Ryan Adams

Yes, I know, not exactly a new artist. I think he's already got 5+ albums out. But I just discovered him a few months ago, and I can't stop listening. He's so raw and so poetic. A rare combination, even rarer to do it well. Check him out.

Favorite lyric so far: "Oh the empty bottle, it misses you, and I'm the one it's talking to."

I feel like I must also say that I don't like "country music", whatever that means, but I really can't get enough of this guy. He doesn't really categorize neatly, which also appeals to me.

  1. Once you hooked on Ryan, you're hooked forever. You being to acknowledge all the good and bad that goes along with him. I have listened to him for years now and although I have many musical loves I still have to have a little Ryan every day or my day feels like it s lacking something. When I go away on a trip and come back home I always have Ryan ready to go on the car stereo. Hearing his voice is like having a warm blanket wrapped around me welcoming me home.

  2. Yeah, I'm beginning to see that. He's just so...real. Can't get enough.

  3. Yeah, same here...I can always find a RA song to fit my mood; can't really say that about any other artist. I've heard pretty much all his 'official' recordings and I'm now working on his unreleased material (Exile on Franklin Street, 48 Hours and Darkbreaker / Elizabethtown sessions; this is one I've been listening to a lot lately (girlfriend's gone for the summer, not sure what will happen when she gets back...):
